Accessibility

 

Our home was built in 1868 long before accessibility was even considered.  All of our bedrooms, reception and dining room are on upper floors.  We therefore regret that it is not suitable for wheelchair users and may prove difficult for some guests with limited mobility.  Some of our rooms have sloping ceilings which may affect taller guests.

 

Exterior – there are two stone steps to reach the front door and bottom landing.  Initial entry is by an audio door intercom system whereby the front door will be unlocked remotely.  Thereafter each guest will have a key to open this door. 

 

Interior – all internal floors and stairs are fully carpeted except en suite bathrooms which have waterproof vinyl flooring.

 

After the front door the bottom landing leads to the main stairwell.  24 stairs measuring 115cm wide by 15cm high.  A wooden bannister runs the full length on the left hand side as you ascend.  The stairs have two curved sections within them.

 

At the top of the main stairwell are the main hall, reception, the dining room and guest room 1.

 

Thereafter is a further upper staircase consisting of 21 stairs measuring 98cm wide by 17cm high (last 9 stairs are 15cm high) with a wooden bannister on the right hand side as you ascend.  This staircase is straight with a landing provided where the stairs change direction.

 

The upper staircase provides access to guest rooms 2 to 5.

 

Guest Room 1 – one 18cm step to access the raised dais of the en suite.  No sloping ceilings.  Super king sized bed which can be configured as two single beds.  Fabric electric recliner sofa.  32” (81cm) Sony Bravia smart television with headphone socket.  En suite has toilet; wash basin; jacuzzi bath (no grab rail) including a sit on side facility; walk in shower (55cm entry width).  Note the taps on both hand basin and bath currently are smooth without grips.  Two large windows in the bedroom, one further large window in the en suite.

 

Guest Room 2 – Super king sized bed which can be configured as two single beds.  Leather two seater sofa.  28” (71cm) LG smart television with bluetooth.  En suite has toilet; wash basin; walk-in shower (53cm entrance width, 17cm step, 6’0” (183cm) max shower head height).  Sloping ceiling over toilet – 6’3” (190cm) at front of toilet.  Two large windows in the bedroom, no windows in en suite.

 

Guest Room 3 – Super king sized bed which can be configured as up to three single beds.  Leather two seater sofa.  32” (81cm) Samsung smart television with headphone socket.  En suite has toilet; handbasin; and shower over bath (two suction grab rails, 6’3” (190cm) maximum shower head height).  Sloping ceiling in both en suite and bedroom – clearances 6’3” (190cm) in front of sofa (to access right hand side of bed), 6’6” (198cm) in front of toilet, 6’2” (188cm) in front of sink.  Access to left hand side of bed unimpeded.  Two large windows in bedroom, one skylight window in en suite.

 

Guest Room 4 – Super king-sized bed.  Fabric sofa.  28” (71cm) LG smart television with bluetooth.  En suite has toilet; handbasin and walk-in shower (53cm entrance width, 18cm step, 6’5” (195cm) maximum shower head height).  Sloping ceiling only affects access to the left hand side of bed – clearance 5’9” (175cm).  Access to right hand side of bed, sofa and TV unimpeded.
